Finding motivation can be tricky for both beginning and established entrepreneurs, for a myriad of reasons. Many aspiring businessmen have to learn to face defeat without falling into despair, whilst successful men and women may find it hard to continue the hard work once they’ve reached the top. A word of wisdom and support from a man who knows exactly what it feels like is invaluable at such moment. Gurbaksh Singh Chahal is the man that is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it.
Gurbaksh Singh Chahal: Rise to the Top
A serial entrepreneur, philanthropist, motivational author, and Silicone Valley prodigy, Gurbaksh became a millionaire in his teens. Since then he’s founded a number of successful companies and continues to work intensively.
His career began at his parents’ home, where a16-year-old school dropout from the family of immigrants from India got the idea that revolutionized online advertisement. His startup called ClickAgents would make him a millionaire eighteen months later when it was acquired by ValueClick.
Gurbaksh went on to found another company, BlueLithium, that pioneered behavioral targeting in advertising and has since become the industry standard. In 2006 the company was named Top Innovator of the Year, putting it in the same rank as Skype and Google. Next year, BlueLithium was sold to Yahoo! for $300 million. An achievement any young entrepreneur is dreaming about.
You’ve Reached Your Goals. What’s Next?
Whilst many would regard his success as a pinnacle of a career in business, Gurbaksh Singh Chahal was just picking up steam and continues to explore the vast opportunities of the hi-tech industry. He launched his third company, RadiumOne, in 2009, and later his fourth, Gravity4.
Gurbaksh could have retired long ago, but something keeps him going. What is it? And what made him believe in himself and pursue his dream in spite of very modest beginnings?
His autobiography, titled “The Dream: How I Learned the Risks and Rewards of Entrepreneurship and Made Millions”, provides the answers. So does his work as a philanthropist and motivational speaker and blogger.
Here are some quotes from his book that can support the reader in time of doubt and insecurity:
• Adjust your attitude. Without the right attitude, you’ll never succeed. You have to believe in yourself, often to the point of madness, because until you prove yourself, the only people who believe in you are your mom and dad (if you’re lucky). If you have any doubts, get out now.
• Own your mistakes. At the end of the day, every decision you make, even it was inspired by misguided advice, is your decision. Nobody wins when you start looking for someone to blame. Let it go. Keep moving. Forward movement is everything.
• Be fearless. The road to success is paved with failures. If you’re afraid to fail, you’ll never succeed.
Gurbaksh also shares his thoughts on his blog, “BeLimitless“. Being limitless is his motto and the attitude to which he owes his success.
For years Gurbaksh has inspired young businessmen across the world, and nowadays he’s willing to share his experience and his fortune to build a better future for everyone.
Social responsibility is one of the most important drivers of his career and charitable work. On his birthday in July 2014, Gurbaksh Singh Chahal founded a non-profit organization that bears his name. The Chahal Foundation aims to fight child labor, sex trafficking, and focuses on promoting educational opportunities for the most underprivileged children in Asia and Africa. Gurbaksh is a strong believer in equal opportunity and its role for better tomorrow. Enhancing child literacy rate is a major part of this strategy, that is why The Chahal Foundation is sponsoring schools in the countries of the third world.
Gurbaksh has traveled extensively to spread his message – “to create a world free from hatred, and ensuring everyone is respectfully granted their universal right to be happy.”
Giving to others, sharing your experience and fortune with those in need of advice or help is the ultimate motivation that can keep you going when you think you lost direction.
Gurbaksh quotes Steve Jobs as one of the people from whom he draws inspiration:
“God gave us the senses to let us feel the love in everyone’s heart, not the illusions brought about by wealth.
The wealth I have won in my life I cannot bring with me. What I can bring is only the memories precipitated by love.
That’s the true riches which will follow you, accompany you, giving you strength and light to go on.
Love can travel a thousand miles. Life has no limit. Go where you want to go. Reach the height you want to reach. It is all in your heart and in your hands.”
These days, Gurbaksh Singh Chahal adds his own voice to inspire and motivate new generations of men and women.
